Issues
(These are just tips;
we suggest you consult a physician before traveling.)
Before departure:
- Yellow fever vaccination (compulsory in Brazil, at least 10
days before departure).
- Hepatitis and tetanus vaccinations. Vitamin B1 or a vitamin
B complex, to be taken 5 days before departure and during the
journey (lowers vulnerability to mosquito bites).
- Malaria prophylaxis (or you can go Homeophatic: drops of Cinchona
Calisaya or Cinchona Officinalis).
To bring in your health kit:
- Sunscreen.
- Mild antibiotics for small local infections. (Echinacea angustifolia
and E. purpurea are powerful natural antibiotics - 6.3 mg =
1 unit of penicillin)
- Vitamin B1 or a vitamin B complex.
- Mosquito repellent. Benedryl (oral) or Epinephrine (injectable),
in case of strong allergic reactions to insects bites.
Health eligibility:
You're ineligible for this Deep Journey if you:
- Are taking any monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
- Are taking SSRI medication (like Zoloft or Prozac).
- Are taking any medication that may interact with MAOIs or
SSRIs.
- The MAOIs definitely must be avoided and the SSRIs might provoke
the terrible Serotonin Syndrome when taken with Yagé (Daime
or Ayahuasca: Vine of the Soul)
